The 20 Commandments of BBSing (*)
1. Thou shall love thy BBS with all thy sectors and all thy bytes,
and thy fellow user as thyself.
2. Honor thy SysOp and obey him that it may go well with thee.
3. Thou shalt surely respect the opinions and beliefs of other users,
that the same may be shown unto thee.
4. Thou shalt remember thy password to keep it secret.
5. Thou shalt observe BBS time limits and excercise self control.
6. Thou shalt spell thy words correctly and speaketh no manner of
"squidease".
7. Thou shalt keep thy foul language to thyself and keep thy
quarrels in E-Mail.
8. Thou shalt delete thine own mail and thine own announcements.
9. THOU SHALT NOT POST IN ALL CAPS!
10. Thou shalt not pose as another user nor "hack" his password.
11. Thou shalt not post anonymously when offering criticism.
12. Thou shall not attempt to "crash" thy bbs, lest thee shall be cast
out from the sanctuary of thy hobby.
13. Thou shalt not post numbers of non-existent BBSes. Thou shalt
surely verify all numbers before advertising them.
14. Thou shalt not post other users real names or phone numbers.
15. Thou shalt not post messages while drunk or angry.
16. Thou shalt not LIE when applying for membership to a BBS, for
verily it is written that whosoever shall do so will surely be
found out and thy welcome on all thy boards will be thus denied
forever and ever.
17. Thou shalt not upload "worm" or "virus" programs unto thy BBS.
18. Thou shalt not exchange copy protected software thru thy BBS.
19. Thou shalt not "phone phreak" nor defraud the phone company in
any manner. Thou shalt render unto S.W. Bell that which belongs
to them.
20. Thou shall not be a file leech. Whatsoever thou downloadeth, so
shall thy also uploadeth.
